This policy covers the website at asimali.net and the Asim Ali Android app, which displays that same website. It was last updated on 20 September 2026.
The short version: I do not run accounts, I do not sell anything, and I do not build profiles of visitors. A few third-party services are involved in running the site, and they are listed below.
What I collect directly
Nothing, unless you send it to me.
There is no sign-up, no login, and no advertising. The only place you can hand over personal information is the contact form, where you choose what to type.
The contact form
If you fill in the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are delivered to my inbox through Formspree, a form-handling service. I use that information to reply to you, and for nothing else. I do not add you to a mailing list.

Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It loads only after you interact with the page, or a few seconds after it opens.
Google Analytics records things like the pages you view, roughly where you are in the world (derived from your IP address), your browser, and your screen size. I look at this in aggregate to understand which work is worth writing more about. I cannot identify you from it, and I do not try to.
If you would rather not be counted, browser-level tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop it, and the site works normally without it.
Other services involved
- Netlify hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers keep standard access logs that include IP addresses.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces. Loading them tells Google your IP address.
- Some portfolio pages embed YouTube videos. If a page you open has one, YouTube may set its own cookies.
Each of these is run by the company named, under its own privacy policy, not mine.
The Android app
The app is a wrapper around asimali.net. It has no separate account system and collects nothing of its own. Everything in the sections above applies inside the app too, because it is showing you the same website.
Two things are specific to the app:
- Software updates. On launch it checks Expo’s update service for a newer version of the app’s code. That check sends the app version and platform. It does not send anything about you.
- Links that leave the site. Tapping a link to somewhere other than asimali.net, such as GitHub or LinkedIn, hands it to your browser. What happens next is between you and that site.
The app asks only for what it needs to show a website: internet access, and permission to see whether you are currently online, so it can show an offline message instead of a blank screen. It does not request storage, location, camera, microphone, or contacts. It shows no ads and sends no notifications.
Children
The site and app are not aimed at children, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your data
Because I hold nothing beyond the messages people choose to send me, there is usually nothing to export or delete. If you have emailed me or used the contact form and want that correspondence deleted, ask and I will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
